We see each child as a person with his own pace, moods, and interests. The relationships we build with you and your child are the base for everything else. We believe a vital component to the overall success of your child is a trusting and honest relationship between parents, caregivers, and the child. Our promise is to meet your child's needs by fostering a learning environment responsive to each child's unique personality and individual development.
In the rooms, teachers kneel to a child's eye level and follow what each child is working on. Small groups let a teacher notice when a toddler stacks blocks or a preschooler sounds out a word. Because ratios stay low, there is time to respond to each child's personality and pace, not just the group's.
Gingerbread Kids Academy is a state licensed early childcare learning center. Teachers are CPR and First Aid certified. Every staff member has a child abuse background check and fingerprint check according to licensing standards. Staff complete an intense training period before working here, then ongoing training in health and sanitation, daily responsibilities, and child development.
What you notice in practice
Teachers get down to a child's eye level and follow the child's lead. They watch what holds a child's attention and build from there. Small groups mean a teacher can sit with two or three children and stay with what they are doing.
Rooms are set up in zones so children can move between activities without a lot of waiting. The day has a steady rhythm: free play and active play, then the academic day, then free play again. Teachers pace it to the group, with quiet stretches when children need them.
How we work with families
At pickup, a teacher can tell you how your child ate, slept, and played. If something came up during the day, you hear it from the person who saw it. Questions between drop-off and pickup can go to your child's teacher or the office. Ask and someone will answer.
The first weeks are a slow handoff. You and your child meet the teachers, see the room, and ask what you need to know. We understand how hard it is to find childcare you can trust. Tell us your child's routines and comfort items so we can follow them.
